What We Believe

God: God is the one, true God “…The Lord is the true God; He is the living God, the eternal King.” Jeremiah 10:10

“And God spoke all these words: I am the Lord your God. You shall have no other gods before me.” Exodus 20:1-3

God is the Creator of all things. “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” Genesis 1:1

God created man so that each of us can have a relationship with Him. God is our Sovereign Savior! “I will love you, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer. My God, my strength, in whom I will trust, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I will call upon the Lord who is worthy to be praised; so, I shall be saved.” Psalm 18:1-3

Jesus: Jesus is God in human flesh. “…The Word was with God…the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” John 1:1,4

Jesus was crucified and rose again to save mankind from sin. He will return again to reign as King of kings. “…So Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and He will appear a second time…to bring salvation…” Hebrews 9:28

Holy Spirit: The Holy Spirit convicts mankind of sin. “…He will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment.” John 16:8

The Holy Spirit is God and lives in the believer’s heart, teaching and empowering him. “…He lives with you and will be in you.” John 14:17

“The Counselor will teach you all things.” John 14:26

The Bible: The Bible is the divinely inspired word of God. It has God for its author, and it is without error. The Bible is God’s perfect guidebook for living and is God’s revelation of Himself to man. We believe that all scriptures center around Jesus Christ in His person and work. “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word.” John14:23; “All scripture is given by inspiration of God…” 2 Timothy 3:16

Salvation: Salvation is the forgiveness of sin, which is offered freely by God to those who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Salvation cannot be gained by works, but by putting our faith in Jesus Christ. “That if you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.” Romans 10:9-10

Salvation is permanent and once truly saved, a person cannot become lost.

Sin: Actions by which humans rebel against God, miss His purpose for their lives, and surrender to the power of evil rather than to God. “For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23

“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23

God’s Grace: Undeserved acceptance and love from God through His forgiveness of our sins through the blood of Jesus Christ. (Romans 3:24) Through Jesus, grace is available to all sinners to allow escape from the penalty of sin and the establishment of a love relationship with God.

“But as many as receive Him, to them He gave the power to become children of God, even to them that believe on His name.” John 1:12

Prayer: Through prayer, we can talk to God and listen to Him. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ.” Philippians 4:6

The Church: An autonomous body of baptized believers who come together in faith to worship, praise and serve the Lord. The church observes two ordinances of Christ: Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. (Colossians 1:18)

Baptism: Christian Baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It symbolizes the burial of the old life and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Jesus Christ. It is a prerequisite to the privileges of church membership. “Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.” Romans 6:4

The Lord’s Supper: “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.” Luke 22:19

“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.” Ephesians 1:7

“For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.” 1 Corinthians 11:26

Heaven and Hell: “Heaven is my throne.” Isaiah 66:1; “My kingdom is not of this world.” John 18:36

“If I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” John 14:3

Hell is the eternal separation from the love of God and a place of weeping and torment. (Revelation 20:15)

The Resurrection: “Jesus Christ died on a cross for our sins, He was buried, and on the third day He rose from the grave.” 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 Jesus’ resurrection conquered death and makes eternal life through Him possible.

Faith: We are saved by our faith in Jesus Christ. It is what we believe. “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not from you; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9

Worship: We exist to exalt God and to celebrate His presence in worship. He alone is worthy of worship and the church is a worshipping community of believers. (Matthew 4:10)

Evangelism: We believe that it is our responsibility to share the gospel with others.  God’s message of love, forgiveness, redemption, and eternal life through Jesus Christ. “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.” Matthew 9:37

Discipleship: We must train and mature believers in their faith so that they can grow to be more like Jesus and lead others to Him. “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit; teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Matthew 28:18-20

Fellowship: To encourage one another in Christian love and spiritual working together in a spirit of unity. “And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the day approaching.” Hebrews 10:24

Stewardship: God is the source of all blessings; all that we have and are, we owe to Him. According to the Bible, Christians should contribute of their means so their tithes and offerings can be used for the advancement of the causes of Christ. “On the first day of the week, let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper, that there be no need for a collection when I come.” 1 Corinthians 16:2

God’s Love: “For God so the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him, shall not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

Family: God has ordained the family as the foundational institution of human society. It is composed of persons related to one another by marriage, blood, or adoption.  Marriage is the uniting of one man and one woman in covenant commitment for a lifetime. It is God’s unique gift to reveal the union between Christ and His Church and to provide for the man and the woman, in marriage, the framework for intimate companionship, the channel for sexual expression according to Biblical standards, and the means for procreation of the human race.
